A Novel and ChiSeries

Blog No. 312

giphyI have officially started to write the Invasion Novel. Right from the first chapter I had some issues. I hope it’s just a bit of beginning a new book shakes, because I would hate to think I’m going to spend the next, however many thousands of words, second guessing every decision I make. I think I’ve solved the issue for now, but that’s based on my concept being a successful one. I have some interesting half chapters that are very different from the rest of the book that are designed to give me some fun interludes and to fill in some gaps in the complicated history. In order to get that history in without resorting to a lot of flashbacks or info dumps, I had to start the story a little earlier than I expected. That means the opening line (the one that was the basis for the whole story) has to be the opening to a later chapter. Continue reading “A Novel and ChiSeries”

Toronto Bound

Blog No. 271

tetris-veryfirstversionTomorrow morning I’m getting on a train and heading up to Toronto to meet up with Arvin and get to work on Season Two of Flags and High Fives. We’re doing things a little differently this year, and that means I have a lot of stuff to bring up so we can get started. Since I’m taking the train (a sensible option in the winter) that means I’m going to have to sharpen my Tetris skills and rely on some muscles to get everything into a backpack and suitcase, and get them onto the train. I think that should be the most difficult part (except maybe getting it all into a cab when I get there). Continue reading “Toronto Bound”

First Update of the Year

Blog No. 269

original_e731d5468841973b53676da4de72a682Even though it’s just the start of 2018 and admittedly, I didn’t have a stellar 2017, I am happy to say, I think I have enough on the go to do a proper update. The dust hasn’t quite settled on the last book (though, I pray it will finally be over this week) I am hard at work on the next one. This may all be old hat to avid readers of my blog (namely my folks) but it may be new to you. Either way, this may be the definitive rundown and I have some concrete things to say about it. I can’t give a specific date for when it will be out (not only have I been burned with that before, but I’m already waiting for some things that are out of my control before I can get it finished) though, I hope it will be out in the next couple months. 200 is a Wonderful Number

Blog No. 175

Clearly since this is my 175th post, the 200 doesn’t refer to this blog. That said, 175 posts is not bad (and rather close to that other wonderful number). As should be clear by now (given the topic of my last bunch of blogs) in January No Light Tomorrow was release. It is my first book and Christian’s second. It was a lot of hard work and took a super long time to make. We’ve been promoting it like crazy, starting with the launch, hitting some comic-cons, signing at some signings, and we have a bunch more on the way. So far, as of this week, we have currently sold over 200 books. Considering we started with an initial run of 500 (and we’ve given away a few to family, etc) that’s a heck of a start for three months. Continue reading “200 is a Wonderful Number”
