Blog post No. 491
I may be milking it a little by now, but this is a short post to announce the official release of Snow from a Distant Sky. In case you don’t already know, it’s the fifth book in The Synthetic Albatross Novella Series that started with The Thinking Machine in 2018. As I’ve mentioned a number of times, the series is now on hold for the foreseeable future. One of the main reasons I wrote the series was to have new books each year for the annual events I was attending. Now that I have Broadcast Wasteland, Break/Interrupt, and Snow in my pocket for when I do go back to events (you can read last week’s post to know why I’m not taking part, yet) I think my time is better spent working on some novels.
At the end of the day, my goal is to be a full-time writer and to do that, I would like to get an agent. Novels are still the most common way to get an agent and start a writing career. (At least one where most of my time is spent writing and not on the business end). Also, I have been wanting to get a novel written since before I started seriously writing back in 2012. Maybe I’m thinking of it as a rite-of-passage or something, but I see it as my next step forward.
That means pausing The Synthetic Albatross. I’m really proud of the series. I do wish I could go back and fix the earliest books, but hopefully that means I’m getting better as a writer. I think Snow is certainly the best thing I’ve written so far. And now you can judge for yourself by buying a copy, reading it, and writing a review on any number of websites. You can order any of my books from whatever retailer you prefer.
I have 50 copies on order. Some will go to Biblioasis and some will join the other books I have waiting to be sold off at whatever event I attend next. If you’d like to get one for yourself, let me know. I may do another book drop off this year. I’m on the fence right now, so it will probably come down to how many people are interested. That’s all for now. New book is out, I’m slowly building up steam on the fourth draft of the Invasion Novel, and I’m excited for what’s on the horizon.
A fantastic way to send off the series (for now!). I loved reading Snow and finally learning about that mysterious guy from the earlier books! Hope you take some time to celebrate your series before diving into the novel.
Thanks, Brittni. I’m glad you liked it. It’s been a long time coming!
I’m looking forward to the conclusion of your Patch Project Series, too!
